Happy Mother’s Day.
If this was your first Mother’s Day, WELCOME. Welcome to the club. It’s a really good one and the chicks here are awesome. I hope you were gifted at least four hours sleep last night and lots of cuddles today. And I really hope someone wrote you a card on behalf of your tiny little snuggle monster.
If you’ve been in the club for a few years now, I hope your small human/s slept all night and behaved all day. Because that’s possible, right!? Or if they did misbehave, I hope they were swiftly removed from your presence like a drunk chick off the stage at a concert. Or a streaker from the football pitch. Which, let’s be honest, is pretty close to how your kids were probably acting. I hope you got a card they made just for you and I hope they let you eat your special breakfast without licking all the pancakes and stealing your strawberries (ahem, POP ).
If you’ve got older, school aged kids I hope they got you the very best, most special present from the Mother’s Day stall. And I hope they delivered it to you with the reverence of a wise man offering frankincense to the messiah. I also hope there was an immediate and effective sibling ceasefire, giving you a day of blissful silence.
If you’ve got teens, I hope they gave you some of their precious time to talk with you today. With no strings attached, just a nice, heartfelt chat where they showed some genuine appreciation for everything you do and everything you’ve sacrificed for them.
If your kids have grown up and moved out, I hope they called you today, or came and saw you to let you know they finally understand.
And if you didn’t get any of that, well here I am saying, I see you. I know what you do. I think you’re amazing. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY.
